Denise Playfiar At The Venues Gallery (Roxburgh, Scotland)

I bought the picture framing business in 2009 with a view to promoting my own art work and further developing the picture framing business.

In the Spring of 2012 The Vennel Gallery moved out of Kelso Square into fabulous new premises at 161B Roxburgh Street, Kelso TD5 7DU. I am now in these premises on a full time basis and any enquiries for framing and portrait commissions should now be brought directly to me there.


The Vennel Gallery is the venue for the permanent display of my work.

I am Denise Playfair (nee Burn) and have undertaken animal portrait commissions for over 30 years.

I work mostly in soft pastels but also occasionally in acrylic and watercolour. I have recently discovered oil painting which i just love!!

The Vennel Gallery also has a selection of works by other local artists. From time to time there are exhibitions � details to follow.

The Vennel Gallery provides a huge selection of limited and open edition prints. A diverse choice of styles and subject matter are always available.

However, the Gallery specialises particularly in country sports, animal and local themes.

The Vennel Gallery is also the local stockist for Sally Mitchell Fine Arts and therefore always has a good selection of prints always available. I am also happy to order prints on request.
